Belly Boards
Timber – BS 1088 Marine Plywood Belly Boards
Made from selected Okoume or Sapele 9mm thick 7 ply marine grade hardwood.
finished size 1220 x 298 mm (+/- 4 mm).
Why 7 Layers?
A point often overlooked when selecting marine grade plywood for bellyboard manufacture.
To give Plywood its incredible strength thin layers of wood are glued together.
Each thin veneer is then laid with the grain of the wood running at right angles to each consecutive board, which means that our 7 ply boards are incredibly strong in all directions.
This is the lightest and strongest genuine marine plywood we have tested.
In fact, the only one to consistently retain both its Lamination adhesive bond and its lignum integrity during the robust (possibly brutal) steam pressing process.
It has terrific natural graining, figuring and colouring, which allows us scope to produce you a great looking board each with a unique grain finish.
We purchase both our Okoume and Sapele Plywood from Fyne Boat Kits based in Cumbria, Fyne Boats .
Phil and his team have been supporting us from the start of our 3rd generation bending trials, way back in 2015,
supplying us with traceable products sourced from Forestry Stewardship Council approved sources, produced in Lloyd’s Approved Timber Mills.
All timber is Certified to the BS 1088 marine plywood standard.
